Starting June 1st, 2007 eBay will release their new affiliate payout structure… and amazingly enough it’s for the better! I really have never promoted eBay that much since I felt it was already a very saturated offer, and also not that great of a fit for my high traffic sites. However, with these new commission rates coming into play and fooling around with AuctionAds… this might actually improve numbers quite a bit! The new payout structure really helps out the smaller affiliates, more than doubling commissions on new active users to ebay, without having to send big volume. The monthly rev share tiers have also been increased a decent amount. Though I still feel eBay is quite saturated and will be tough to send in new active users, it will be very exciting to see how these numbers pan out… as well as affecting AuctionAds numbers. I would love to be able to give AuctionAds much better placement and volume if we can get those darn earnings per click rates up!
Take a look at the commission chart comparison below. eBay’s current payout structure is on the bottom and the new structure coming June 1st are shown on top. This could actually get exciting!

Take a moment before reading this post and visit ClubPenguin.com. Be sure to glance through a couple pages and see what it’s about. Now look at the site again and take a guess at how much you think the site makes per month/year? At first you may think this is just a fun little community for just kids… but it’s really a massively huge cash cow! Think of World of Warcraft, but on a smaller scale and targeted towards a younger audience. TechCrunch reports that ClubPenguin is on it’s way to possibly being acquired from Sony for around $500 million dollars! TechCrunch also reports that ClubPenguin has "projected revenues of $65 million in 2007 with $35 million in profit. Having nearly 50% bottom line margin is exceptional. The company has around 500,000 active users."
Where is the money you may ask? If you look at their "membership plans" you will see that you can signup for a monthly fee and have access to cool member benefits, such as dressing up your penguin or decorating your own igloo! As silly as the idea might sound, it’s making a ton of cash and user activity/signups are still going strong. There is an amazing amount of money in offering paid memberships and monthly billing. If you have had trouble with making the next big step in making big money online, you may want to think about starting up your own paid membership based site. You will need to work hard on bringing in new subscribers, but will soon have a nice recurring source of revenue each month. While there are the usual dating, gaming, greeting cards, hosting and other sites that have paid memberships, something new and original (like ClubPenguin) would heavily increase your likelihood of growth and success. After all… how many paid subscribers have you been signed up to and forgot, or were too lazy to cancel them… someone is cashing in? Why not you!

I just logged into my AuctionAds account to see if anything has changed from yesterday’s stats. Looks like we are seeing some updates, and a big one at that! While not that large in revenue, it is large compared to the stats I was looking at yesterday. From the new report shown below, you can see a new commission of $8.82 was added on the 13th. You will also notice, the program received the most clicks and impressions this day as well. If stats are fully updated for that day, unfortunately we are still looking at less than .01 per click. Low cpms can usually be increased with better site placement of ads, but with volume cpc averages are usually consistant. I will need to see some high commission days soon for this program to keep it running. Will need to refer a few new members to ebay, that’s where the higher commissions come in. I will continue to run the offer til the end of the month, hoping to see earnings of at least .03 per click.

Since a little life was shown today for AuctionAds, I decided to throw the offer up on one of my gaming web sites. The listing on the new site will not have that great of site placement or volume, but should be enough to provide more stats should prove useful. I will keep you updated on how the program is doing. Also, same as last time… if anyone else is running AuctionAds, please comment to this post and let me know how it’s performing on your end.

Last month I made a post on the announcement of the new AuctionAds program. Seems ShoeMoney/AuctionAds are advertising everywhere and making offers on a ton of forums to entice new publishers to push their program. They even have a main page ad on TechCrunch.com. Through AuctionAds you can start making money with eBay’s Affiliate Program, but at higher revenue with less volume. Think of it as Google Adsense, for eBay… but how do the numbers match up? Instead of getting paid per click, you earn commissions on new eBay signups, Winning Bids and Buy-It-Nows. In my original post I had said I would keep you updated on stats when I started running the program. I listed two 468×60 banners for AuctionAds on one of my highest traffic sites. It’s been less than a week, but there has been a lot of volume and clicks. Here are the numbers are looking.

Right now the numbers are pretty bad. I’ve heard that some sites have been doing well with the program, while other’s aren’t making anything. I’ve also heard that some stats are delayed, as new auctions take time to end, as well as new bidder accounts being setups. Either way, right now we stand at over 275,000 impressions, 3010 clicks and $3.58 earned…. backing out to a .013 cpm. The click rate is actually decent, even at only 1%… only program is the revenue earned. If this updates and is bumped up quite a bit, it may actually do well. Since I still am testing with this program, I will leave it up a few more days to see if anything happens.
If anyone else is running AuctionAds, please comment to this post and let me know how it’s performing on your end.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! Mother’s Day and most other holidays are usually a dull and boring low traffic day for most web sites. However, many sites live for Mother’s Day! I have some sites that do amazingly well on holidays and it’s always nice to know I will see a big traffic and revenue boost on these days, rather than expect a down day. The truth is, during most holidays people aren’t going online to browse and waste their time. Instead they are going to focus on the holiday and make a related search. If you have a site targeted towards an individual holiday, you are going to cash in on those days. If not, then you should! While it may seem like a niche market towards only flowers and chocolates, there is so much more you can offer to those frantic users searching for those final Mother’s Day gifts. Start up a greeting card web site and every holiday/event will be your cash cow! Imagine how many people go online to look for love poems on Valentine’s day and / or for Mother’s Day! There are so many different niches and opportunities online for you to start making money online. I felt today would be a great day to make a post and get a few of you motivated!
