Hurricane Dean

I should be writing to you LIVE from CANCUN, MEXICO right now, but a little storm named Hurricane Dean got in the way. My girlfriend Reena graduated from Rutgers and one of her presents was a trip to Cancun for a week. We’ve been anxiously awaiting the trip and decided not to go because of the massive storm. At first we made the decision, but now it’s clear that most airlines aren’t even flying there now over the next few days and hotels are trying to push visitors away and close down. Right now the hell storm is seeing maximum winds of up to 145 mph, and will hit Cancun by early Tuesday.

US Airways pretty much canceled all flights around the Caribbean, so We were fortunate to get a full refund on the vacation. Any recommendations on where we should go on the next trip that we will schedule?

The Next Internet Millionaire - Episode 1

The first episode of "The Next Internet Millionaire" has now been released. I just spent the last hour watching the video and it was quite interesting. While at Affiliate Summit East, I saw Joel Comm a few times, but didn’t get to personally meet with him. I think it was pretty cool of him to throw this type of venture together and the quality and setup is quite professional, especially without the commercialization of being an ad based show on television. (though HackerSafe is a paid sponsor, and there was one short Chitika commercial and a FlowGo ad at the end of the episode) I wouldn’t be surprised if something like this would be aired in the future on something like CNBC, as it would attract the same type of audience of Trump’s Apprentice.

Twelve contestants were selected and sent off the to Commplex and are now in competition to become "The Next Internet Millionaire" and personally work with Joel Comm on his next project. If I had to put my money on any one of the contestants, I would pick Jason Marshall(who also happens to be from New Jersey). Though it’s only the first episode, Jason slightly reminds me of Troy McClain from the first season of The Apprentice. Troy wasn’t selected as the winner of "The Apprentice", but like Jason Marshal, I think his leadership skills, public speaking and being a generally nice guy, might bring him a long way. I think this will bring him far in the show, but we’ll see what happens!

Overall I like it and I will be sure to catch all the future episodes and see how the season plays out. Watch the first episode below and let me know what you think.

GoDaddy Coupons

Register Domains at GoDaddy.com
Domain buying can be quite addictive. I have some ridiculous amount of domains… somewhere in the area of 200 various domains… yet I only focus on a select few network sites! Many of them are spur of the moment buys. Either a good domain name I thought of and wanted to grab, or they were for an idea I had, but didn’t get around to developing them into sites. If you are going to house a lot of domains, you need to make sure you have a great domain registrar and not a crappy one like RegisterFly!

Right now I have nearly all of my domains spread across GoDaddy and eNom. I personally love and prefer GoDaddy and have roughly 150+ domains with them at the moment. One of my favorite features is the ease of picking up new .info domains and using them as auto forwards for testing with new campaigns. Not only are they cheap, but you can also get some nice keyword domains still!

With so many domains, registration and renewal costs really add up quickly. I love coupon codes, with a simple copy and paste you can instantly save you a few bucks! GoDaddy has some great coupon codes and promotions that come around once in a while. Instead of having to search around all the time, I came across a great coupon site at DealTaker, which features a nice set of GoDaddy coupons and updates them often. If you aren’t already, start buying domains through GoDaddy and save with these free coupon codes. I have listed the most recent coupon codes available through DealTaker below:

Buying on the Cheap

We are down another -300 points today in the market… quick… "SELL! SELL! SELL!"… (as Jim Cramer would say). That’s the reaction of a good majority of people in the stock market right now. As for Cramer and myself… we’ve been more of a "BUY! BUY! BUY!". As you may know, I’m a member of Jim Cramer’s Action Alerts, which tells me every time Jim is about to Buy or Sell a stock for his charitable fund. Over the past week, Jim has been doing a lot of buying. Today I picked up a decent amount of shares as well, from a variety of companies. Don’t get me wrong, this market plain sucks… but it’s likely to come back.

In my last post on Jim Cramer’s Action Alerts and my portfolio of his recommended stocks, I talked about how my portfolio was up nearly $5,000 (8.55%)! This was pretty good and I was extremely happy with the performance. Since I have started posting on my JCAA performance, I have been getting allot of emails asking for updates. Unfortunately I didn’t post again recently before the recent crash, as it was up a bit higher.

From the chart above, you can see it pretty much took a complete spin. After being up 8%, now its down 8%. It may seem bad, but it really isn’t when you compare it to what else is really going on. My other personal trading accounts are getting hurt a lot more than my Cramer portfolio. Many hedge funds are also down 40-60% right now. This market is just killing everything right now and I will continue to buy as Jim Cramer does. He was here through the last several bull markets, and will guide us through this one as well.

If you take a look at just some of the stocks in our internet marketing area, you will see them at nearly half they price they were a few months ago. ValueClick, Google and Yahoo have all been hit hard as of lately. Below are their stock charts for the past three months.

VCLK - ValueClick   :   52wk Range: $16.03 - $36.70

GOOG - Google   :   52wk Range: $372.26 - $558.58

YHOO - Yahoo   :   52wk Range: $22.44 - $33.61

New Money Making Book Titles

I was in Barnes & Noble yesterday and decided to pick up a few books. I really am not big on reading books, I much prefer audio books that I can download and listen to on my ipod, or while I’m working on the computer. I never even got around to reading the Perry Marshall Adwords ebook I ordered a few weeks ago. Let’s hope I actually get to read these! I’m leaving for Cancun, Mexico for a week on Saturday, so I’ll try and read one or two of them on the flight and recap/review them on the blog. Here’s what I picked up:

THE ADSENSE CODE, by Joel Comm
This one is an older book, but I came across an article online yesterday which inspired me to pick up the books. It’s sub titled "What Google Never Told You About Making Money with Adsense", so that seems cool enough. I’ve been fortunate enough to make over six-figures using Google Adsense and seven-figures using Yahoo Publisher Network, so anything new the book can teach me would really be cool.

THEDIP, by Seth Godin
A new book on the shelves from Mr. Godin. Seth Godin is already a well known marketing genius and I haven’t read any of this work yet. This one really grabbed my attention because it’s sub titled "A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick)". Though it can relate to almost anything, I thought about how it related to PPC marketing and knowing when to give up on a crappy campaign and move on, and vise versa. I’m really looking forward to this one and if I love it, I’ll definitely pick up a few of his other books.

THE 4-HOUR WORK WEEK, by Timothy Ferriss
Everyone is talking about this book, so I want to see what it’s all about. Personally, I love to work online and make money… it’s really more fun than work, since I’m the boss and not forced into anything. Timothy went from a $40k a year job and working 80 hours a week to making $40,000+ a month and on only4 hours a week! This one should also be a nice read.

Has anyone else read these titles, or have any other great titles to recommend? I will try and review each of these titles and might startup a "Marketing Books" review section to the blog. Let me know what you think.
