Meeting up with Problogger & Guy Kawasaki at Blog World Expo

The first day of Blog World Expo kicked off this morning with an opening keynote from Dave Taylor on “How We Got Here” and the state of blogging and where it’s headed. After the keynote there were a few sessions I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss.

The first session I attended was with Darren Rowse of ProBlogger. It was really great to meet him in person, since he usually only makes it to the US once or twice a year. His session was also very information and got the mind thinking on ways to send traffic to a blog. Once Darren gets his slide presentation online, I will link to his “30 Ways to Increase Traffic to your Blog!” presentation. Some ideas I walked away with from his session were to focus on what your readers are already interested, what your top posts and how to entice readers to leave comments and subscribe to your rss feeds. A lot of it was stuff we already know, but being reminded and given new methods and ideas are key to actually taking action and making the changes on your blog.

Tomorrow morning I will be speaking with John Chow, Jim Kukral, Darren Rowse, Jeremy Schoemaker and Brian Clark at our “Make Money with Blogging” super panel.

The next keynote was during lunch and was a Q&A session with Guy Kawasaki and Steve Rubel. I first met Guy back at Elite Retreat a few months ago. Guy has done a lot over the years and he’s always fun to listen to. From talking about AllTop, to bashing Apple for what they could be doing better, Guy covered a bunch of different area. Key point taken away from this session… “Just write good content!

I met with Guy afterwards and instead of the usual picture, Guy wanted to take a picture at the same time… it made for an interesting picture to say the least.

The last keynote of the day is Gary Vaynerchuk, then there are three Blog World parties going on tonight. Stay tuned for more pictures and Blog World 08 related posts.

Gary Vaynerchuk Bringing the Thunder to BlogWorld

If you were already banking millions of dollars per year and had the power of 80,000+ viewers whenever you created a new blog video… would you settle there? If you were Gary Vaynerchuk, the answer would probably be a THUNDEROUS “Heck No!

“Gary V” as many call him, continues to take the world by storm, if not just the “Wine World“! Later this week Gary will be keynoting at BlogWorld Expo in Las Vegas and early next year, he will keynote at Affiliate Summit Vegas 2009. There is no doubt that Gary will not disappoint.

What separates Gary Vaynerchuk from everyone else in the industry? If you already know Gary, the majority of you would probably say “his passion” and his open desire to “help everyone around him“.

In addition to his extremely successful WineLibrary TV (80k+ viewers per video), his new book release and across the country book signings and tv appearances, Gary still has time to network and chat it up with all of his followers through his personal blog and mega following on Twitter. While Gary may not be able to personally respond to every email he gets, he does make the effort to be the face and hands behind his name and company.

Recently interviewed in FeedFront magazine, Gary gave some solid advice for anyone looking to make a brand for themselves online. Gary says, “Authenticity. Baby. Be a RAT. Be real. Authentic and Transparent. And know what you’re talking about. That means going as niche as you have to.

So if you think you know a lot about basketball, but you realize you know more about the Houston Rockets, that do that. And if you know more about Hakeem Olajuwon than the Houston Rockets, then you can do a Hakeem Olajuwon TV of Hakeem Olajuwon blog.”

Solid advice from one of the best branded marketers/bloggers around.

What’s next for Gary? Like many of us, Gary wants to own a sports team… his love for the NY Jets is clearly visible no matter where he is to be seen. So whether it’s at BlogWorld, on your computer screen, or even at the sidelines of a Jets game… keep your eye on Gary Vaynerchuk!

I’m very excited to announce that I will be speaking on a panel (Making Money Online with a Blog) at BlogWorld with some of the greatest marketers and bloggers of our time. What first started out as a myself, John Chow and Jim Kukral (moderator), has since turned into a super panel with Darren Rowse (ProBlogger), Jeremy Schoemaker (ShoeMoney) and Brian Clark (CopyBlogger). This is sure to be most anticipated session of BlogWorld 2008. There is a massive RSS readership of 151,030 spanning across the bloggers featured on this panel.

If you are still undecided if you should attend the event, I would highly recommend doing what you can to get there this year. Last year was the first BlogWorld Expo event and it was awesome. Meet Me at BlogWorld Expo 2008 in Las Vegas

There aren’t many conferences that I will fly across the country to attend, but BlogWorld is definitely one of them. I first heard about BlogWorld Expo when I was at Affiliate Summit West last year. I had a few friends that were planning to make the trip, so I made sure I would be there as well. Not only was it the inaugural conference for BlogWorld, but it was also the first time I got to meet up with a lot of new people like John Chow, Nate and the UniqueBlogDesigns team, Leo Laporte, Gary Vaynerchuk and Marc Cuban just to name a few. I was really amazed with how awesome the conference was, especially since it was the first time the event was put together.

Unlike Affiliate Summit or other internet marketing events, BlogWorld has attendees from every aspect and not just those that focus on making money. At BlogWorld you will meet up with bloggers that blog for fun, political bloggers, make money bloggers and many others. It was a very different type of conference and I really enjoyed it. Another great thing about BlogWorld, is they break down the conferences by topic, so if you are a political blogger you can attend all political blog sessions. (Meaning you won’t have to miss any sessions in your niche blog area)

Once again, it’s time for BlogWorld to start putting all of the speakers lists and sessions together. My good friend Jim Kukral is in charge of the monetization track this time, so he will have his work cut out for him. Last year Jim was able to introduce Marc Cuban as the final keynote speaker at BlogWorld and also was the emcee for Affiliate Summit West 2008.

Here are just a few of the Great Speakers in attendance at BlogWorld 2007.

The speaker list isn’t available yet for this year’s BlogWorld, but if it’s anything like last years, it will be phenomenal. I highly recommend you try and attend BlogWorld this year, and conference tickets are actually 50% off for a limited time.  I look forward to meeting you at BlogWorld 2008 in Las Vegas!
