Make Money with Facebook Ads

Facebook has now destroyed every other web site on the internet. Passing other major search engines like Yahoo and Bing, leaving YouTube in it’s track and now it’s only real competition is Google. With over 400 million users on Facebook and 510 BILLION page views per month, how can you not be taking advantage of advertising on their network? Now is the time to focus on Facebook advertising, as they are wiping out the crap affiliate offers and sending more quality traffic to legitimate offers and web sites.

My friend Jonathan Volk just released his “Facebook Ads Guide” which walks you through the simple and complete process of setting up a Facebook Ads campaign, then through the advanced stages of improving your click through rate and breaking down your campaigns by demographics, interest targeting and location.

I’m sure you’ve seen these Facebook ads… but do you know how they make money?

I’ll be honest, the Facebook Ads Guide is perfect for anyone that hasn’t made a full attempt at being successful on Facebook Ads, but less for the well trained or successful Facebook marketers. On the flip side, Jon also offers a Facebook Affiliate Mastermind Video presentation as an upsell to the guide. During the launch promotion, this upsell is 75% off and only an extra $37. It would be tough to justify buying the guide and passing up on the additional videos.

It’s not just a guide, the bonus Facebook Ads reports and pdf files is where the goodies are! As mentioned, I went through the Facebook Ads Guide and was familiar with everything in the book, but after looking over the additional pdf files, it brought some extra value to the guide. Here’s is what’s included in the total package.

Combining Several User Interests to Create the Perfect Facebook Ad

Facebook advertising is a lucrative advertising platform where a lot of affiliates and advertisers are making a lot of money from. The reason why some are making the boat loads of cash is because they are creating ads geared towards a users interests.

It is another reason why so many fail on Facebook. Every person that advertises on Facebook for the first time or several times are very general when it comes to their ad and audience.

It is important to think like the user and not just put an ad out there base on an interests. One strategy that I use is to combine multiple interests to create an ad they are already comfortable with. Creating an ad base on the users environment can catch their eye more than a general ad.

The power of Facebook relies with their amazing way to target users. So it is in our best interests as affiliate to take advantage of these interests. By combining interests with another interests you grow the chances of the actual user clicking on your ad.

For example a user ‘likes’ the Simpsons and Family Guy. These are listed in their interests and is publicly noticed on their profile. You can easily create and ad with a headline saying “Simpsons vs Family Guy.” Your image can be Homer Simpson facing Peter Griffin.

You can even split test images with Maggie Simpson and Stewie Griffin, Marge Simpson and Louis Griffin – can you see the idea here. We are combining their likes to create an ad made for the person it is meant for.

Already you can see how this ad can get a high CTR base on the users favorite characters of the show. Since the user likes both shows, we are creating a conflict of interests to the user in which case they are going to be curious of what to think and read through your ad and most likely click through.

Utilizing a users interests and likes can work to your benefit. The days of advertising and making an ad generalizing the public is no more with Facebook. You can dig deep into a user and utilize their favorite shows, games, celebrities, and other likes to better suite your ads.

Creating an ad made for the user gives you a higher chance of visibility, which can lead to a high CTR, which in turn can mean profit or a lead to you. That sense of their environment will work in your favor because they are already comfortable with what they like.

Loyal fans will always be protective and curious to see what others have to say about their favorite football player or celebrity. It is in our nature to stick to our favorites until we find a replacement to our own likes.

Juice Up Your Facebook Ads Campaigns by Targeting Top TV Shows

With Facebook Ads cracking down on affiliate offers and limiting what they are approving, it’s important to always come up with new ways to promote offers. One of the largest groups of “interests” in Facebook, is television shows and movies. What’s also great about this target audience, is that if you are going to post a show as your interest, it’s likely you are pretty passionate about the show, and anything relating to it would catch your eye.

Here’s a list on some of the top TV shows and their target audience size.

TV Shows (Interest) Fans
Family Guy 5,351,572
South Park 4,595,997
House 4,847,081
The Office 2,515,347
Lost 2,972,203
Gossip Girl 2,747,198
Scrubs 2,819,834
Two and a Half Men 2,439,330
Prison Break 2,067,752
Desperate Housewives 1,235,169
CSI: Miami 1,153,105
Seinfeld 1,036,278

As you can see, these are some pretty serious numbers, and that’s only a handful of TV shows to choose from. InsideFacebook wrote a post today about how TV shows dominate Facebook interests, and gives even more detail on the growth of these interests over a weekly basis. If you click any of the interest names above, you will also be sent to the InsideFacebook stats page for that individual interest, where you can see a growth chart of fans and view the office fan page.

So what’s the big deal about targeting TV shows anyway, it’s not like you can make money off telling people to go watch the show on TV? While that’s true, and the idea of trying to sell DVD sets to users for a small commission also won’t work… it does leave a lot of room for creativity. If you were a company like Blockbuster or NetFlix, you could target this audience and send them to a relative landing page with their specific shows of interest and try to convert them into the member. I’ve tried this with their affiliate offers and the conversions were low, but there was clicks and a lot of interest.

Another option is to build your creatives or landing pages around an offer. Several times I have seen a completely irrelevant offer being advertised, but with a Homer Simpson or South Park cartoon. It wasn’t relevant, but it did catch my eye… this is also something that can be played with.

It’s time to get creative with your advertising. How many TV shows do you have in your Facebook interests, and is anyone targeting ads in your direction?

How to Monetize 80 Million Farmville Users

How dumb is Farmville? If the concept of building a fake farm, planting seeds every few hours and trying to collect enough tools to build a horse stable sounds like a fun or silly idea, you are not along. Over 80 million users are now playing Farmville on Facebook, and nearly 30 million users are logging in daily. Zynga, the creators of Farmville are cashing in and making millions. While Farmville may seem like a dumb idea, it’s a massive cash cow and it’s no where near slowing down.

As reported by Mashable, “FarmVille’s daily active user count is currently 29.7 million — that’s almost 30 million people using FarmVille every day.” Even more amazing, is that FarmVille’s parent company, Zynga, was valued at 1 billion dollars late last year.

Zynga / Farmville makes their money from users completing offers to receive bonus cash for their in game play. To explain this best, it’s what affiliate marketing is all about. Farmville is simply pushing affiliate offers, and rewarding their users with game currency (no real physical product).

This is great for Zynga, but how can everyone else jump on the bandwagon and make some extra money. With over 80 million users, and growing by an expected 10 million every month, “Farmville” has become a brand you can piggy back off of. Here are just a few ideas on how you can start making money off the Farmville craze.

Farmville Facebook Targetting
It’s no secret that Facebook offers one of the best demographic targetting ad systems around. Targetting towards applications and games is no different. If you can find a products, game or sites that current Farmville users are interested, simply target this demographic and be seen.

Creating an Ebook
Gamers are hardcore about their success, and Farmville is no exception. I’ve seen a lot of “Farmville Advancement” ebooks and guides over the past several months, just like guides for getting gold and leveling on World of WarCraft have been around for years. With 80 million users, there isn’t much of a saturation point. See what’s currently out there, make it better and cheaper and compete.

Web Site with Information
Just like an ebook or guide, you can do the same process for creating a web site. Through a web site you can build up a mailing list, fans, push other Farmville ebook products and more. I have seen a fair amount of Farmville ebooks and sites for sale on Flippa, and have also heard of Zynga sending out C&Ds to sites using the Farmville name in their products and domain names. Be careful if you are choosing this path.

A Completely New Idea
Don’t be discouraged that you may be behind the Farmville trend, it’s still growing strong. Someone is going to come up with the next great Farmville idea and cash in big time. Whether it’s a replica app/game, or ebook/training site… there is plenty of room for competition and earnings.

In the end, there are a lot of different ang;e for you to tap the Farmville market place. Don’t forget, Farmville is the largest game on Facebook, but there are several others with millions of users. Take what’s working with Farmville and target it to a smaller crowed. Remember, you only need a very small percentage of 80 million users to take action or use your product to find success.

Do you Farmville?

Facebook Ads and Banner Blindness

This is a guest post by Jonathan Volk who runs an internet marketing blog where he teaches the techniques he has used to generate millions of dollars per year online.
howmany

How often do you see ads just like this one on your facebook? I know I see these ads over and over among others so often.

What is Banner Blindness?

Banner blindness on facebook ads is when an ad such as the one above is just ignored simply due to the fact that it has been seen so many times before by the same demographic.

Ads that once worked amazingly well (as I’m sure this ad did – although I never personally ran it) loses it’s effectiveness all together.

Banner blindness can set in rather fast on Facebook. I’ve seen ads move from profitable to unprofitable in a single day by not implementing the correct protocols (featured below). This happens especially fast when targeting smaller numbers of people.

Overcoming Banner Blindness

Overcoming this banner blindness is a huge struggle as a facebook advertiser, specially when you’re generating high volume ads.

To overcome Banner blindness, my team has tried numerous techniques. Here are a couple techniques that can help you to overcome this banner blindness and increase your facebook ads profitability.

  • Put a border around the image ad – In Photoshop you can easily add a red border around your currently high converting image to create a bit more attention to an ad losing it’s effectiveness.
  • Try changing the headline to something 100% different. Often, changing the headline to something completely different can have a good effect on your ad conversions.
  • Always run more than one ad variation. If you run more variations of ads, your ads lose effectiveness slower. Even if one ad is less profitable, it’s worth running to keep your higher profiting ad running for longer.
  • Of course, switch out the image. Easiest and simplest trick in the book, but it works.

By using some of these techniques, you should be able to overcome banner blindness to some extent.
