Lately I’ve been working on a couple new blog sites and I’ve been going through a decent amount of Wordpress Themes resources to find the best layouts and color scheme for my sites. While going through a ton of sites, managed to find a few that were actually pretty helpful and had a decent amount of quality designs to work with. Below are some of the sites I found most helpful and wanted to share them with you.

Adsense Based Wordpress Themes
If you are looking to create a blog to target a niche area or strictly to make money, there are many themes out there created just to help improve your Google Adsense earnings and click through rates. With these wordpress themes you are able to create your high quality content, while having Adsense displayed within your content or at least right in front of the viewer.

Lastly, I’ve been thinking about having some custom and magazine style wordpress themes created that I can pass along to my blog readers. Leave any feedback on what type of wordpress themes you would like to see (and haven’t been able to find) and I’ll see what I can do about having them created. If you have any other resources, feel free to list them in the comments section and I will add them to the lists.

adsense based themes always seem to be very basic, i can never find any good ones
ReplyHey Zac thanx for the tips very helpful I just subscribed like I said I was going to, and I’ll see you next time.
ReplyZac, nice list, thanks.
Here is what I would like in a free theme.
All of the usual affiliate & AdSense features, plus a way to input a background theme master color change, and a way to change the header image. That way one theme could be used multiple times without it looking too common, and you would still get the link in the footer.
Another really needed feature is to be able to purchase CC rights in the future which would remove your footer link, but you would get paid for it. I have built many sites using free themes and then when they get popular and are earning their keep I would like to be able to keep the now familiar theme but make it commercial.
Good luck and I know you will have some great ideas.

ReplyThe great thing about a free theme is that you can take it and manipulate the code so it looks original. It is never good to have a blog design that looks like another person’s blog design. So even though these are free we need to make sure that people understand that they are least need to change the colors to look a little bit original.
ReplyWhy don’t you try just getting the plug-ins for WordPress so that you can choose any free theme you would like? I know the plug-ins can easily manipulate the code without you having to do any of it.
ReplyIt’s not that simple. The last theme we had on our blog was free, but it had too many gradients, so putting Adsense on the site made it look tacky (the backgrounds would never match). There is more criteria a theme has to met than just having plugins to be Adsense ready … Nice idea for a blog post.
ReplyFor all of those who don’t know already, Smashing Magazine is an excellent site. As a web devigner (developer/designer hybrid), I find the site to be an excellent resource of both inspiration and information.
ReplyI could really do with finding a theme based around a party/good time/costume/ dressing up nightclub idea. I’m yet to find one!
ReplyAwesome is the word, really useful +1
wpskins . org is also not bad!
ReplyBTW, was this a paid post?
ReplyThanks for that list Zac, I’m launching a few blogs to flip soon and these layouts come in handy
