We are in the middle of the most historic Presidential election ever! The Republicans and Democrats are raking in millions upon millions of dollars for their parties to have their leader claim the golden prize of Presidency! Now is not the time for you to sit on the sidelines and watch how everything plays out… now is the time for you to cash in!
I’m sure plenty of you have come across various Presidential campaigns on many affiliate networks and their banners spread across all news sites and social networks. Using these campaigns and the power of the press, you too can fatten your wallet as the debates heat up.
Here are just a few of the Presidential offers available across the networks:
Who will be the next President? (CX Digital, $1.25 cpa)
Free Presidential T-Shirt (CX Digital, $1.50 cpa)
Who will be our Next President? (Motive Interactive, $1.25 cpa)
Presidential Survey - TopIncentivesurveys (Hydra Network, $1.50 cpa)
YourTopBrands - Presidential Election Survey (Hydra Network, $1.30 cpa)
Who do you Support? (Amped Media, $1.50 cpa)
Now that we have an ideas on the offers available, you will need to focus on how to drive traffic and convert these media frenzy audiences into leads. No problem, I already did that for you! One of the best ways to bring in low cost traffic and convert them into leads, is through a survey/poll site. Using surveys to generate leads is nothing new, but I will break down the process for you and show you how easy and effective it is.
Step 1: Find something that everyone is talking about!
Ever since John McCain brought in Sarah Palin as Vice President, the media hasn’t stopped covering it. To stir up the tabloids and news even more, Oprah Winfrey doesn’t want to have Sarah Palin on her talk show, since she endorses Barack Obama. This is a perfect example of how you can use these two events in your favor.
Step 2: Create a survey/poll landing page.
Using the two hot topics above, I created a simple landing page to bring the visitor to action, having them vote on their decision. Instead of just writing “Should Oprah have Sarah Palin on her show?“, I wrote “Is Oprah Abusing her Power by Not Having Sarah Palin on “Oprah”?“. Not only is the wording more exciting, but it grabs the user’s attention and if you are a fan of Oprah or Sarah, you will want to give your opinion and make your voice heard.
There is really nothing that special about this landing page. Make sure you have a clean design and to the point. I also enticed the visitor to place a vote, by adding “BONUS: Vote Now & Qualify to Receive a Free Gift Card!“. (This can vary depending on your backend offer) The “YES!” or “NO!” is a simple text link, that the user would click to place their vote. Again, this is very simple, and depending on the time and effort you put into this, you can make it more advanced or even collect user data for yourself or a newsletter.

Create survey landing pages that will make the user want to vote!
Step 3: Finding your backend offer
In this example, I’m focusing only on Presidential campaigns, so refer back to any of the ad campaigns listed above. Once the user clicks on YES/NO, their vote would be counted and you can send them off to the confirmation page. You can either setup your own landing page and pass the user onto the offer, or pass them directly to the offer. Make sure you check on marketing options available for the campaign before promoting.

Once the user votes, you can pass them off to a survey offer for their reward.
Step 4: Promotions and getting traffic
Now that you have created your landing page and your confirmation page setup, you are ready to go. The best way to generate targeted low cost traffic would be through Google Adwords and other search engines (content network). In addition to using TEXT ad campaigns on Adwords, I would also recommend setting up some IMAGE ad campaigns. There are a lot of blogs and news web sites that are running Google Adsense and if your campaigns get picked up you could see some nice traffic. If you are seeing good numbers, you can even start buying direct links of news/celebrity sites/blogs.
Step 5: Tweaking and watching your numbers
The last step of making money with surveys/polls and news is to continually tweak your landing pages to try and get the best conversions. Don’t put all of your traffic to one offer, the reason I listed so many presidential campaigns above is because they all will convert differently. See what works best with your traffic.
This concept is not just limited to Presidential campaigns, however with all of the attention towards the election right now, and the availability of targeted offers, its a perfect fit. Through out the year you can create new surveys towards news, movies or celebrities… depending on what’s hot.

"With great power comes great responsibility".... my Uncle Ben told me that. Haha, just kidding! I'm Zac Johnson and I've been making money online for over 10 years now. In short, I started making money online while I was in high school... but my passion for marketing and making money goes back way earlier than that. I created ZacJohnson.com to help motivate you to start making money online, and live the life the you always dreamed of.
Definitely a nice trick here thinking of chasing the current buzz. The everbuzzing world of Hollywood gives a lot of such opportunities as well so CPA affiliates, watch out!
ReplySome easy money floating around. The question is how much you can grab. I guess the easiest way is to become an affiliate and let others grab the cash for you.
ReplyHey Zac, I live in the UK so I’m not clued up on the whole president thing going on to be honest, what other things would this poll and survey affiliate marketing work with?
Thanks,
ReplyCarl
Great idea. Seems like we can take advantage of the current political situations eh?
Will try it out. Subscribed to your RSS.
ReplyI have had little luck with surveys/voting landing pages. I am thinking of trying again.
ReplyJust an example though. I think this one may work:
Should Lindsay Lohan adopts kids like Angelina Jolie to better how everyone see her?
What do you think Zac?
ReplyAlso, the MTV movie awards were hosted by some celebrity famous in the UK… anything around him and MTV/music could also do well. Just see what news or celebrities are hot in your area.
Replyhaha. Becoming an affiliate is the perfect thing to do. Not AS much work.
ReplyGreat idea. I’ll look into it.
ReplyNice rundown of the survey/poll creation process.
ReplyFYI, the word “Oprah” is banned by AdWords and Facebook… how convenient.
ReplyYou can cash in on these things if you’re quick to the draw and also observant of the trends. Hats off to you for a great post that gives solid advice.
ReplyIn your example you are incentivizing the offer. Most email and zips don’t allow incentives. This is a great way to get your readers banned from the network or from the advertiser.
Replynice tips, other website talk about how to make money but they never show samples but you stand out from the crowd Zac.
Thanks
ReplyFYI - your blog is the slowest on my blogroll.
ReplyHey Zac, I am noticing that the presidential election is becomming a predominant ad that constantly becomes listed via my adsense account. It is no wonder that this topic will indeed bring a lot of clicks until November. Also, I am new to your blog and I like what you got going on here - great tipps - keep up the good work.
ReplyI can see how that would work; people do, after all love to give their opinions on anything and everything.
ReplyIs it really? Unreal. You could always try mis-spellings, though.
ReplyMore great info, Zac. Keep them coming.
ReplyThe only incentive I see is the free gift card, which is part of the offer, not a separate incentive from the webmaster/publisher.
ReplyI’ve got a political blog and I’d like to offer the first person to respond a free day’s worth of advertising on my blog to use one of these offers. If interested, just leave a comment on my latest blog post and I’ll give you a free day of ad space.
ReplyPolitical polls kind of suck. Most people who are reading political information are smart enough to realize they aren’t going to get a “free prize” for voting.
If you want to cash in with these, you have to go for the entertainment topics, like “who is more of a slut, paris or britney?”. seriously.
Because of the Sarah Palin thing, this might not be a bit better than usual, however.
ReplyI had a political poll running all last month and made a healthy profit from it. Too bad I got Google slapped silly. Between Google slapping you and offers scrubbing you, it feels like a losing battle sometimes.
ReplyVery creative
… It is inspired me.
ReplyHey Zac, Great post and inspiring to see.
How much time do you put into one of these polls to get it up and running as well as being profitable?
ReplyI’m going to have to come back to this when I’m less busy and try this technique out!
Jay
ReplyGreat idea for people to make some hundreds to thousands of bucks!
ReplyThis is a cool method to get leads. Never would have thought of that.
ReplyThats a wonderful idea I am gonna give it a shot
ReplyGreat idea and for all topics useful. Easy and profitable.
ReplyThe hardest part of the whole process is finding a keyword that isn’t saturated, gets enough traffic, and don’t cost too much.
ReplyI doubt “Opera” would pull in even a hundredth of what Oprah would have brought in though
ReplyI’ve run these dude, and it’s 100% legal because you’re just telling them what to look forward to.
ReplyNice post Zac!
I’ll definitely give this method a try in the next weeks, but I still have a question. What about showing the poll results on the landing page after a user has voted? Is it really necessary to show the results or should I point those users directly to the offer?
ReplyIts really nice to have few k $$$ with online surveys but still afraid because most of them are scammers. How to find out best resource which provides real online surveys services.
ReplyLittle success with surveys and polls. They never seem to work..
