A few years ago I acquired BloggingTips.com and wanted to grow the site out and into something amazing. One of my goals for 2013 was to finally focus on rebranding and building Blogging Tips back to where it was and making it even better.
One of the best ways to do this is through case studies and teaching!
Earlier this month I started my own “Create a Blog” case study on the site that walks users through the COMPLETE process and step-by-step on how to research, create and build out their own niche blog.
Everyone can start a blog, but building a successful blog is not easy. When you focus all of your efforts on building a quality niche blog, you have a real business model. The last thing the world needs is another “make money” or “wordpress” blog… there are just so many of them and the content is all so related.
With a niche blog you can focus on one topic and strive to be the best at it. It’s also much easier to do keyword research to find a winning niche and become the #1 ranked site in the search engines and eventually the “authority” site for that topic.
How the blog case study is going so far…
So far it’s been great!
I’ll be the first to tell you that there is no better motivation for sticking with something than actually putting yourself out there and telling people you are going to provide them with something, while documenting the whole process.
I can’t tell you how many blogs I’ve setup in the past and just let die out because I lost interest. That won’t happen with this one!
Not to mention how fun and great it is to write up each process of building out the site. It’s like getting back to my old roots of site creation and management!
As mentioned, the case study only started earlier this month but there has been quite a few updates and I’ve listed a recap of each below.
Before even thinking about creating a blog you need to map out the business model and concept you have before you. In this post we will break down everything you need to know about creating a niche blog of your own.
The first step to creating a success web site or blog is to know where you are heading before you start walking. Choosing a keyword and niche (audience) is the foundation of any successful business model… online and offline.
With you keyword and site audience focus down, now you can focus your efforts on creating the foundation of your site, which consists of a domain name, hosting and using the wordpress platform to manage all of your content.
Without blog content your site is lost… Understanding what type of posts and pages your blog needs to index in the search results while also providing quality content to the people searching for your site is key.
Be sure to continue to follow the full case study over at BloggingTips.com, as it will be continually updates for the next several months as the site continues to index and grow.
