Making money online isn’t just a business, it’s also a skillset. Always staying ahead of the curve and not getting swept away by the changing trends in the industry is key to long term success. This can clearly be seen when looking at my own business over the past several years. What was a focus in previous years and worked then, might not work today.
With that being said, content creation is always going to play an important role online — no matter what industry you are in, or the service you provide to your audience. However, the means for creating this content and getting it to new audiences is changing. A clear example of this would be the utter dominance of mobile and online video in the world today. Text content and images till work well, but the growth of mobile and video is expanding at a much faster pace.
The good news is that this transition will be beneficial to both content creators, site owners, and brands — as long as you adapt with the industry and your audience’s demand. One such company that is making this transition within their own business, and for their site partners is Vinteo — as self-serve rich media video solution for in-app, mobile web, and desktop publishers.
Let’s take a look at their business and how they are helping site owners better monetize content on their site, while also helping brand marketers and affiliate reach new audiences in the process.
As mentioned earlier, video and mobile are now on the rise like never before and if you still aren’t taking advantage of these new sources for traffic and content delivery, you will soon fall behind the competition and be lost forever. Vinteo.tv was created to help content creators and brand marketers gain immediate access to such traffic sources, right through their self-serve advertising platform — which is focused solely on video advertising. After all, ‘vineto’ is greek for ‘video”!
Now that you know what vinteo is, how can you start making money with or reaching new audiences? Simple… put their self-serve advertising platform to use.
With content monetization and audience reach on all of our minds, it’s always a question of how such processes can be done better. In the case of Vinteo, it’s all about removing traditional advertising and upgrading such spots to serve video advertising. Vinteo makes it easy for sites to join their monetization platform to serve video ads on their site, which also provides their advertisers with a wide selection of sites to gain exposure from. Since Vinteo is handling both sides of the spectrum, it’s much easier and cost effective to keep site partners and advertisers at the highest levels possible.
All ad serving is done through Vinteo and they pay out on a CPM basis. This means you don’t need to worry about a wide range of CPA, CPS or CPC offers being served and wondering how they might convert with your audience. Vinteo is also set up to make sure all video ads will be optimized and served across all desktop and mobile devices.
As with every advertising platform, there is always going to be a publisher/advertiser dashboard area to manage your account, campaigns, check stats and more. You can see a preview of Vinteo’s easy to use dashboard area below — which is dead simple to use and has a navigation which consists of simply the main dashboard, your campaign reports, and the embed codes to start serving ads on a given site.
Right when you log into your account, you will be shown the lifetime stats for your campaigns — which includes player loads (videos shown), lifetime earnings and your lifetime CPM. These are all important numbers, but you can see further details in the chart below this area, and a broken down version of your stats based on the previous day, last week and previous month average. These are key stats to look at, as you will want to keep an eye on your display numbers to see how your onsite traffic is growing, while also keeping an eye on your eCPM to make sure your earnings are increasing in the process.
When it comes to simplicity, it really does get more simple than the interface and video display process that Vinteo offers to their audience. Simply log into your account, click the “Embed Codes” menu, then copy and paste the code to your site. By default, the video ads appear to be 300×250, but the ad spots displays can be changed by typing your own width and height (in pixels) into the appropriate section of the embed ad code (shown below).
For best results, Vinteo suggests running video ads that are greater than 400px in width, and greater than 300px for best results. Remember, these are video ads… so people will want to be able to see them in a large enough size that it’s easy for them to click and follow. Outside of the usual 300×250 size, other popular sizes include 480 x 320, 640 x 480, and 800 x 600. Mobile ads are also supported, as long as the ad is at least 250 pixels wide and 170 pixels tall.
You can see an example of a Vinteo video ad placement below. No matter where you place the code on your site, or within content, it will appear perfectly.
The video ad will appear right away and start playing in video format, but the actual sound of the video won’t start playing until clicked on or hovered over with a mouse cursor. Sound can be enabled to play instantly on page load (which results in a higher CPM), but it will likely irritate the audience in the process. With that being said, there are still many sites that will auto-play volume simply because of the difference in revenue, and also based on audience/content focus.
It’s also important to remember that site partners are paid on a CPM basis. This means it doesn’t necessarily matter if the videos are played/clicked on… revenue will still be earned simply for the display.
For the time being, Vinteo is fairly simple in their embed code and video display settings. If you would like to have more control over where your video ads are being displayed on your site or within your content, consider a WordPress plugin like Ad Inserter. Video ads can also be served within mobile applications as well. If this is something you already have in place, be sure to consider Vinteo as another source of potential revenue.
As with all ad networks and business opportunities, the amount you can earn will always vary. If you have a high traffic site, you can likely start earning a few hundred dollars per day if you serve video ads in the right places. For a site just starting out, with little traffic or content, it would be much harder to make any serious money. However, all of the tools are in place for you to create a successful website with high traffic, as long as you are willing to put in the work and effort.
Ultimately, the amount of revenue your site can generate with Vinteo will be based on how much traffic is seeing your ads, who that audience is, where they are from and why they are on your site. The more prominent the placement of video ads on your site, the more likely they are to be viewed and clicked — which would result in a much higher eCPM in the long run.
With all of this in mind, you can take a look at the stats sheet below to see what a typical site generating over 30,000 video player loads per day might generate.
From the stats screenshot above, it’s safe to say that a $1 to $1.50 CPM is the average to be expected across sites. On the Vinteo website (specifically on the FAQ page), it’s noted that some publishers in the network are able to earn as much as $15 CPM for their traffic. Again, this is likely due to quality of traffic and placement of video ads.
The truth is, there is no way to estimate how much you might be able to earn with Vinteo, outside from actually joining their network and running some ads for yourself. As you can see, the process of joining and placing an embed code on our site is easy enough and takes just a few seconds. You can also set up sub-id tracking to get better stats on what pages of your site are earning the most money. If you have any questions, you can also contact email@example.com.
Vinteo payments are sent on a net-30 basis and there is no minimum threshold to hit when sent out through Paypal. If you want payment through bank wire, you will need to hit at least $500 in earnings.
