Make Money with Angry Birds Web Sites

Angry Birds will go down as one of the most successful and viral mobile video games ever! You can even see the popular game on television being used on different mobile phone devices. Everyone wants in on the Angry Birds market! The creators of the game have already raked in millions upon millions of dollars, with earnings of over a million dollars per month!

But a better question is… how can you start making money off the Angry Birds craze?

Being an active user on Flippa, I’ve noticed a lot of attention and selling of “Angry Birds” related web sites. Some of these properties are selling extremely well. Here’s a few of the top auction listings and what they eventually sold for.

AngryBirdsNow.com – Bidding Ended at $89,000

An excellent name for a site, but it’s actually more focused on a bunch of online games than just Angry Birds. The site serves up a ton of traffic and ranks extremely well for Angry Birds related terms. (listing)

AngryBirdsGear.net – Sold for $2,500

I really liked the design and setup of this site. As merchandise and toys of Angry Birds keeps growing, so does the demand for more online specialty stores. That is exactly what AngryBirdGear.net created with their dropshipping site. (listing)

AngryBirdsGoldenEggs.com – Sold for $27,000

The first site mentioned Angry Bird games, then the next site focused on Angry Birds merchandise… now this one focuses on everything and strives to be an Angry Birds news and resource web site. (listing)

As you can see, there is no reason for you to sit on the sidelines while Angry Birds is making people a lot of money. Just because you aren’t the creator of the game and they don’t have an affiliate program, it doesn’t mean you can’t make money. Resource sites, merchandise, online games, the upcoming movie and news released on their upcoming games… there is a whole world of content and users for you to work with. Get creative and maybe you will have the next big Angry Birds site for sale on Flippa!

  1. Wow, this is interesting, just because I was thinking about making a website like this after seeing AngryBirdsNow.com for sale yesterday for $66K. You just made me more motivated to making one.

  3. Better to be on the selling end of a potential trademark violation. Nice trend spotting on your part.

    1. I agree. Never know when a company might go ballistic on trademark infringement issues. Though some companies allow and encourage growth of their name and brand.

    2. Actually, angry birds was denied trademark..its too generic of a term, like apple for example.

  4. Hey, Zac,
I had no idea that anyone can make money with Angry Birds, without being a creator of the game or in charge for it. So, this is news for me and I must admit I like what I am hearing, since I am a big fan of the Angry Birds games. They are so much fun, and always guarantee hours of good play and entertainment. Now I can even consider making money on something I like so much!

  5. What's great about that site is that it already has a huge traffic even before you own it. All the buyer needs to do is to maintain or make it even better.

  6. There was a thread on wicked fire about a case study. The guy made an angry birds site and sold it for 27K…That was back in may 2011

  7. Angry Birds has really gave some cool ideas for IM.

  9. A million dollars a month not too shabby at all. I personally have never played the game I need to check it out and see what all the fuss is about. The video game niche is where it is at! Mobile, computer, and home video game systems it is a multi billion dollar industry. If you can tap into that market you have the potential to make a pretty penny to say the least.

  11. LOL AngryBirdsNow.com BIN is set at $120k . The site no unique design, just use free wp theme for arcade. it's an amazing idea, HAHA

    1. MySpace did the same thing, but they first went after all the sites, then didn't follow up and let everyone keep using their name in domains. Too bad MySpace is nothing now…

      1. It was a little harder back then to "go after"…it happens day in and day out these days. I'd be prepared to wager that anybody currently owning a prominent Angry Birds .net,.com,.org etc won't have it this time next year.

  12. so I used to own angrybirds.org and it expired, its now in redemption and I can get it back for $220.00 thoughts…? Wanna JV with me Zac?

  13. Almost all the bidding and sales on Flippa are totally rigged, just people buying and selling back to themselves to maintain the myth that anyone is really going to pay 80,000 for a crappy website that anyone could build in 10 minutes. Every now and then they catch a "fish" who doesn't realise it's all a scam, and that funds everyone for another year.

  14. Your book was a great read man. It's amazing the world of flipping domain names. As seen through this angry birds example. An even greater reason to stay in the loop. There's money to be made from it.

  17. The great thing is that anybody with "Angry Birds" in their domain name is going to lose it sooner or later. The company is just at the stage where brand protection will hit their radar and all these idiots will lose everything.

    1. Haha I can't wait to see what happens with this! You never know for sure, but whoever shelled out $89k could be in for a rude awakening.

  18. 89k wow, thats a lot of money. But I guess that took a ton of work too since creating a site with games and stuff is not the easiest thing to do. I shouldve tried at least. I had a good domain but I just sold it even before trying.

  19. Nice post and good point – would you say that there was an "online" way of making money from this (adwords or CPA type thing) or do you think to monitize you really need to have a product for sale on this one to mak the site worth something?

  21. what happened to the site? There is no adsense now and the angry birds game is gone from the site.

  22. Such an easy an interesting way. many people i saw using this. Thanks for sharing the idea.

  23. Hello Zac,

Another niche site I need to build 😉 – thanks for telling me about this as I love flippa stuff!

  24. I had no idea related sites could bring so much money. I'd be concerned about the copyright owner trying to claim the domain name, though – would be awful to put a bunch of work into a site and have rights to it taken away.

  25. I have been working on an Angry Birds blog and have contacted Rovio to see what issues there may be with trademark/copyright. So far so good. This is definitely a great niche to get into and if you do it right, you can make some good money either short term or long term.

  26. I am always confused on whether you can use a "brand name" in a url name? Can you clear that up? I would have thought that Angry Birds would have been trademarked. Am I wrong this?

  33. I recently acquired epicangrybirds.com through a niche research campaign that finished – I found out about this article after- which is a gem by zac as always – but what Do you guys think I could get for it on Flippa/Private sale?
