Massive Growth at HostGator is Exciting to Watch

It’s always great to see awesome companies online succeed, especially ones that you have been working with for many years. The funny thing about online companies, is that they really don’t need to do “real world advertising”, since they can do it so cost effectively and well online. An extremely well known hosting company in the internet marketing space is HostGator, and not only do they host a great majority of affiliate related sites, but they also make affiliates a massive amount of money as well! Over $400,000 is paid out to Host Gator affiliates every month! How sick is that!?

Host Gator just sent out one of their monthly mailing and it had some pretty exciting highlights for the company, which saw explosive growth in 2010. Here are just a few of their company highlights.

HostGator in the News

In 2010, HostGator grew by over 2 MILLION domains! At the beginning of 2010, the company had 2.9 million domains, and are now at nearly 5 million domains. The company has also expanded to over 500 employees, along with 64 new reps to handle customer support. But even more fun and exciting is how HostGator is making a big name for themselves in the offline world… look out GoDaddy, here comes HostGator!

The latest additions to the HostGator branding and marketing campaigns include billboards, a real NASCAR sponsorship and even being seen in an EA Sports UFC video game. Will we soon see a new celebrity sponsor for HostGator next? HostGator doesn’t just spend mad cash on ad campaigns… they’ve also donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.

I’m glad to see HostGator doing so well. Not only do they host millions of web sites, but they have also made a ton of affiliates a TON of money over the years with their amazingly successful affiliate program, which is available through their in-house affiliate program and through Commission Junction.

Hostgator is the king of real world advertising in terms of domain registrars/hosts. Have you ever seen a TV ad for anyone else? These guys run ads during the SuperBowl…

      1. LOL you're absolutely right, for some reason I always associate Godaddy with Hostgator.

        I stand humbly corrected <bows>

  2. Yup, I'm considering promoting hostgator over godaddy as godaddy affiliate managers never reply back in due time and hostgator does! 😉

  3. Wow that is some impressive growth in 2010 for hostgator. I must've just automatically deleted my hostgator newsletter. They must really be investing heavily in advertising to achieve that kind of growth. I recall they had some super cheap hosting deals for Black Friday and Boxing Week too.

    1. They had a massive promotion during Black Friday. They also pay out $100+ through their affiliate program for new hosting accounts, even if they are only $4.95 a month. Solid company, solid affiliate program.

  4. Godaddy have recently had their ass kicked through very bad customer reviews. The gator on the other hand have no love lost from me for not only their on board installations like WordPress and PHPBB, but also their excellent online live support.

Without their great support staff I would have been lost and would have still had problems with many things on my blog, keeping me in the dark. And they give support you would pay big dosh to fix on Scriptlance.

Ps. Zak, where can I get the 'Submit to replies/all new comments' plugin?

Hope to hear from you soon.

  5. In my opinion, the most successful hosting company currently on the market. , I work with Hostgator Since 1 year 🙂

  6. I love how hostgator advertise. You can even see some hostgator ads by the side of the road. How cool is that?! Well, it seems everything paid off and they deserve it!!

  7. The price is great but, in my opinion, one of the best things you get for your money is the ability to host unlimited domains. I do a little domaining – buying old sites, hosting and redeveloping them before selling them on again. I've also used GoDaddy but them seem to get hit with a lot of attacks, especially against their MySQL servers – never had a problem with HostGator.

  11. After researching around I chose Hostgator to host my blog and what a good decision it was – no down time, unlimited domains, and a very easy to use control panel that allows a one click upload of WordPress. And now they're selling domains! Excellent so far and would higly recommend. Maybe that's why they're going from strength to strength.

  12. I am impressed by Hostgator´s huge success. It is one of the most reputable companies in the web hosting industry. Thanks for posting the Hostgator´s news

  13. congratulations to hostgator’s success! I read lots of review about this hosting company.

  14. I used to be with another hosting company and I was paying over double for the service. Now after a while they decided to charge me more for services because my tiny website was getting too much traffic.

But the real kicker was their email client was getting corrupted every month or so and I would have to download all my emails and then reinitialize the system. For someone who uses email as much as I do it was retarded. Their customer support was awful. You would send an email (if you could) to them and they would reply back within 48 hours. That’s a long time to deal with a corrupt email client.

I’m not sure how many times My husband had to do this for me. I can’t imagine what would have happened to all my emails if he wasn’t a tech support guy. I would have been screwed.

Blue Host is good, and… when someone stole a picture of my son from my site and put it on another blue host site then shut them down within 30 minutes of me contacting them. Of course I had all the emails and tweets that I had been trying to contact the site for 2-3 days. I love their chat service.

In fact the best thing about Blue Host for me is that other than the stolen picture, I haven’t been in touch with them a sure sign that things are working properly. Seriously of you’re calling your blog host all the time something is desperately wrong!
