Quick Tips to Grow Your Social Media Following

Everyone wants to have a mega list of loyal followers on Facebook, Twitter and Google.

How you get them is going to be the big question!

Google is now giving more evidence than ever that social followings and authority is going to play a big role in the world of SEO and search ranking in the coming months and years.

Now is the best time to focus on your branding and social presence than ever before.

Here are some great ways to get started.

Be Everywhere!

Getting on All The Social NetworksThis one is a no brainer, yet so many people still avoid this simple rule.

BE EVERYWHERE!“… this means you should definitely create an account on Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

These are the three major players in the social media space, but there are also plenty of smaller networks out there as well.

If you want to create the biggest following possible for your identity, then you will also want to make sure that you are on as many social networks as possible as well.

But wait… don’t think that you are going to have to manage all of these other smaller profile pages! Just make sure to create an account with your name/brand and link them back to your main Facebook, Twitter and Google accounts. This way users from all social networks can find where you are actively posting.

Provide Real Content

Provide Real Content and ConversationOne of the more important factors to creating an effective and successful social media following is by actually creating real content.

Think about why people are going to be following you in the first place.

Do they want your blog updates or do they want to hear what you have to say?

Take a look at some of the top bloggers in social media and see what the discussion is all about.

Interact with Your Followers

Interact on Social Media NetworksSpeaking of discussion… that’s what social media is all about!

Make sure that you don’t create an account or fan page that just blasts your rss feeds and random posts out there. People are following you because they are interested in what you have to say and it’s all about the two way conversation.

When someone messages you, make sure you message them back.

Not only is it the polite thing to do, but it will also encourage other people to start talking with you as well.

Add Social Buttons to Your Site

Facebook Like DesignOne of the most effective ways to get people to notice that you are live on the major social networks is to add a badge or button to your page.

Facebook, Twitter and Google+ all have some sweet features that allow people to instantly following and like your social pages right through your site.

Not only will this help grow your social following, but it will also give you authority by showing the faces of all your Facebook friends who also like the brand.

This one is a must for any web site or blog!

Create a Contest or Buzz

Start a Social Media ContestIf you feel the need to go outside of the norm to bring attention to your account, creating an online fan follower contest is an excellent way to get started.

There are plenty of tools and services out there that allow you to run a contest through your web site, blog or social page that requires people to “like”,”share” or “tweet” your social page and contest info in order to win. This is an excellent way to spread awareness about your brand while creating a buzz and gaining followers in the process.

Buying Followers on Twitter and Facebook

Another way to grow your following on social networks is to inflate them through the use of paid follower and social promotions.

If you are looking for the highest quality of users, you are going to want to grow your brand and following without the use of paid followers, but many brands are looking into different ways they can get their names out there and boost their appearance.

It’s recommend that if you ever decide to buy Twitter followers or Facebook likes that you setup a new account so you can compare their responsiveness versus other account. It takes a long time to grow a real social following online with thousands of followers, but through the use of these services you could have an account with 100,000 followers in a months time.

While some people shy away from paid social media promotions, the demand is definitely out there.

It’s not just about gaining followers, but also about sharing your blog posts, tweets and likes too.

One of the best ways to bring content back to your web sites and blogs is to create viral content that is continually shared and when other people see content is being shared, it inspires them to share and check out what all of the commotion is about.

How are You Growing Your Social Following?

At the end of the day, social networking is here to stay and it’s definitely not too late to get started if you haven’t already.

  2. Anything of value takes time to build. Therefore, going through a short cut (Like buying Twitter followers) might give the appearance of success on a particular platform but I don't really see it giving the results that the real thing brings to the table. I believe it's best to build a following by giving value.
