Why Infographics are Brilliant for Viral Traffic and Business
When is the last time that you got an email from some stat report that offered you a text email to read or even a pdf document? Whenever it was, there is probably a good chance that you read the headline, maybe skimmed through the email… then deleted it!
Now ask yourself the same question again, but this time instead of sending you a text report of pdf file, they sent an infographic for you to check out? Heck yes I’m checking that out!
I love infographics and so do the millions of other people online, especially internet marketers and the users of Pinterest. Infographics are awesome because they provide killer information and in a visually pleasing and fast paced way that engages with the reader and keeps them reading on. Just like long sales pages work extremely well, infographics are usually extremely long as well… and there’s no surprise that both work extremely well for any type of online brand awareness and promotion.
Let’s take a look at the infographic below. Sure, most of us are using social media in some form, but the topic isn’t that exciting to read about. Grab all of that juicy information and stick some fun images and bullet points together… and BLAM! Now it’s a whole lot nicer and enjoyable to read through. Branding, entertainment and knowledge all in the same message!
How to Create Your Own Infographics
As much as I love infographics… I suck at designing them. I don’t know how to use Photoshop, and collecting all of the data to make up an infographic can be quite time consuming in itself.
There are plenty of services out there that create infographics for you, but the price ranges on them are ridiculous. I understand that people have to make money, and the top design brands can afford to spend several thousands of dollars, but the average blogger and online marketer will have a hard time swallowing any costs in the $2-$4k range. Of course this will also depend on your expected ROI and the type of site or service you are looking to promote. You will also have to factor in the type of infographic you will create and how viral they may actually go. Some infographics bomb, while others continue to bring in thousands of new visitors every month.
Lately I’ve been working with a few different design companies to see which have the best quality and rates. InfoGraphic Design Team is a group that I have been working with and in addition to quality, they also have some great rates with infographic design starting at only $399, and going up to $1499 for the ultimate package.
Creating the Right Infographic for Your Business Model
Data is boring, and infographics are fun! This is one of the first things you need to keep in mind when thinking about having an infographic designed for your site or business. It’s also important to think about how you may want to convey your message in your infographic as well. Viral traffic is good, but if you can’t convert your audience then you are just wasting money.
Here’s why infographics work so well:
- A fun way to share information
- People will share them on social networks
- Blogs will post and share your content
- Creative way to reach new customers and readers
Fortunately, design teams have the experience and history to know what works well in infographic design, so many of them can help in you in this area. During the design process you will be able to include the type of information you want translated through your infographic, along with any design ideas you might have.

Thanks, it's always fun to do write ups on infographics. I might do a weekly or monthly infographic for this site!
It does seem a useful method for gaining viral traffic. I would like to give it try.
People love to share infographics!
I'm just getting started with infographics for my site, i think the main issue is getting them in front of people to get virality going. For that, pinterest is definitely a life saver.

It's definitely a mission to get them in front of some powerful people to start spreading them around. This can take some time, but once you figure it out it can pay off big time.
I love infographics. I think they make a refreshing change to reading text.
Never put one together myself as I don't have that skillset, but if I did and wanted to get eyeballs to them, I might try approaching blog owners and suggesting them as an alternative to the traditional guest post.
My recent post Can a Simple Split Test Improve Your Marketing Effectiveness?
Its great to see such a positive post about infographics! As an Infographic Designer I come across several posts that seem to be negative in reference to infographics. I find this fairly sad as they can be very effective in drawing traffic and building up a companies brand/voice if they have a great topic, well researched, and designed to capture the viewer.
Great post!
