I’ve been building websites and writing about online business since 1997, and a chunk of what keeps this site running comes from affiliate partnerships. Here’s the honest breakdown of how that works.
What that actually means
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and end up buying something or signing up for a service, I may get a small commission. You don’t pay anything extra for this. It’s just a way this site pays for itself instead of running purely on ads.
Amazon is one example. I’m part of the Amazon Associates program, so links to Amazon products can earn a commission on qualifying purchases. That’s just one of several affiliate relationships this site maintains across different tools, products, and services I write about.
Why I do it this way
I’ve turned down plenty of affiliate deals over the years for products I wouldn’t actually recommend to a friend. The bar for anything linked here is whether I’d point someone toward it even if there were zero commission attached. Money changing hands doesn’t change what I say about a product. If something’s mediocre, I’ll say it’s mediocre, link or no link.
A few practical notes
Commission rates, terms, and even whether a link is still active can change on the merchant’s end without notice to me. If a link looks broken or a deal seems off, that’s usually on their side, not mine, and I’d appreciate a heads up if you spot one.
